Culture, Citizenship, Cities, and Change
Intellectual hotspot and haute couture capital, France is known around the world for its rich culture. While Paris offers endless complexity and layered history, France is more than just its capital. A journey through the country might take us from the bustle of Parisian boulevards to tree-covered plazas and sun-soaked villages of Provence. With a long history of social demonstrations and civic engagement, France invites inquiry into how its people respond to questions of justice, belonging, and historical memory.
Atlas Workshops programs in France explore the country’s layered approach to culture, politics, and daily life. We can investigate how cuisine, architecture, and regional languages reflect both continuity and change, and how movements for equity challenge long-standing institutions. In a country that has long defined what it means to live publicly—through dense urban neighborhoods, lively markets, and highly walkable cities—we reflect on how civic values and cultural traditions continue to shape daily life across a diverse and dynamic nation.
